| MUSICAL DISCOVERY "Where music IS education" After 15 years in music education as both a teaching artist and lecturer, Mr. Armienta has embarked on developing a series of music activity books and cds for classroom teachers and parents. The name of this endeavor is Musical Discovery. He states, |


| PARTNERING WITH ORCHESTRAS AND OPERA COMPANIES As a composer, he has strived to incorporate into his work opportunities for youth to participate as both creators and performers. Over the years, he has been collaborated with organizations such as Opera Pacific, Pacific Symphony, and San Francisco Opera to name a few. Recently, he received a commission from the Oakland East Bay Symphony as part of the Words & Music Project (and funded by The James Irvine Foundation). This world premiere will bring together the creative forces of Mr. Armienta and several young poets, who will be selected by California Poets in the Schools. The work is scheduled to premiere in March 2005. In the field of opera, he has was commissioned in 1995 by Opera Pacfic to compose a work, Un Camino De Fe, based on a true story a young girl and her family's journey to the United States. His children's opera, the Coyotes and the Rabbit/sLos Coyotes y las Conejas, based on a Mexican Folk tale, is currently touring in Texas. , Forth Worth Opera is performing the work throughout schools in the Forth Worth area for a third year. |
