Justice is spelled with a "Z"Spain is slowly losing its grip on the Americas ( New Spain) and a young man returns home to Alta California in search of his destiny. Soon a new nation will be born ( México) and the poor will find a new hero in their small pueblo - Reina de Los Ángeles.
They will call him Zorro. More about the OperaBased on the pulp fiction novels of writer Johnston McCulley, this explosive new opera is filled with romance, danger, and suspense. Featuring one of pop culture’s most iconic, sword-wielding vigilantes, this swashbuckling adventure will thrill audiences of all ages!
The work is set in the early nineteenth century. During that time, there was great politically upheaval in Spain and México, due in part to the French Revolution and Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. There are several references to political events and historical figures in the opera, including Spanish King Ferdinand and the man that lit the flame of the Mexican revolution - Padre Miguel Hidalgo.
